It’s the Weekend!!!
Though, I’m not sure I’m really exited because I work all round the week, taking breaks when I can. Sigh…. that’s the life of an indie author who works 9-5, runs a freelance writing business, and also has to make out time to write her own stories. When I find my billionaire husband enh, I hold his neck and he will have to explain why it took him so long to appear. That’s by the way, like I promised in my last letter, here are the things that helps me stay creative in the crazy capitalism-driven world.
Books:
Books have always been my refuge. I can generally read anything but fiction is always my first choice. The world of romance, fantasy, and other kinds of fiction novels sparks my creativity like nothing else.
Korean Dramas:
If you know me, you know that, me and Kdramas are like 5&6. Korean Dramas aren't just a pastime; they're a well of inspiration. Their beautiful storytelling and multi-dimensional characters encourage me to find my own unique narrative voice.
Music:
Though I haven't been listening to music as much as I used to, one of my current WIP was born from listening to Dwin, The Stoic.
Real-Life Stories:
Listening to real-life stories from people around me offers an interesting perspective. It allows me to dive deep into human experiences, extracting raw emotions and putting them into my stories.
Culture:
Culture has always been a big source of creativity for me. You can see its influence in my latest release, Amber Fire.
Myths:
For me, myths and culture are like two sides of a coin. They provide timeless inspiration, enriching my narratives with depth and intrigue.
Feminism:
In my stories, I aim for a balance between escapism and reality. Feminism serves as a guiding force, enabling me to infuse my tales with truths that connect with my readers.
A Clean and Organized Space:
My surroundings play a big role in the creative process. For me, a tidy and organized space helps declutter my mind and gives my imagination room to roam.
A Calm Mind:
As creators, our minds can easily become chaotic with ideas. I've discovered that nurturing my mental health, decluttering my thoughts, and taking regular breaks are essential for maintaining a peaceful and focused mindset.
Writing Tools:
Tools like ProWriting Aid and AI assist me in planning and outlining my stories, reducing mental strain and allowing me to direct my energy towards writing.
So, yeah, these are basically the things that keep my creative fire burning. Writing can be hard but once you find what works for you, you can overcome challenges and remain consistent.
